Terroir
The Assam Valley extends along the Brahmaputra River in northeast India. Warm temperatures, high humidity, heavy monsoon rainfall and fertile alluvial soils create vigorous growing conditions for tea and many tropical crops.
Cultivation
Tea is cultivated on both large estates and smallholder farms. Rapid leaf growth, seasonal flushes and local processing infrastructure shape production. Flood risk, drainage and rainfall management are important regional considerations.
